Domestic violence leads police log

The following report is taken from the Niles City Police log:
On Aug. 30, Niles City Police arrested Daniel Dammont Esters, 20, 680 Platt St., pending charges of assault and battery.
Witnesses said Esters began arguing with his girlfriend and choked her, according to the police report.
When police arrived, Ester's girlfriend has scratches all along her throat.
Police transported him to the Niles Police Department where he was booked and lodged.
On Aug. 27, around 11:54 p.m., Niles City Police arrested Michael Edward Knapp, 51, 577 Union St., pending charges of assault and battery.
Police responded to a domestic violence call, after interviewing witnesses, it was determined Knapp had struck the juvenile daughter of his girlfriend. Police were unable to book Knapp due to is blood alcohol level of .23.
On Aug. 29 at about 1:20 a.m., Niles City Police conducted a traffic stop at the corner of N. 13th and Lake Streets on a vehicle that allegedly failed to turn off its high beams for oncoming traffic.
The officer made contact with the driver and the two passengers. At ages of 14 and 15, all of the juveniles were too young to have a valid driver's license.
According to the police report, one of the boys indicated they had taken his mother's car without her permission.
The juveniles were taken into custody for a curfew violation. The driver is also pending charges of driving without a valid operator's license.
They were taken to the Law Enforcement Complex, where they were fingerprinted, photographed and released to their parents.
On Aug. 30, Niles City Police arrested Jimmie Lorian Brister, 46, of Buchanan, pending charges of possession of marijuana. Police noticed two men riding bicycles with no headlights at Riverfront Park.
Upon searching Brister, police discovered a plastic baggie of marijuana and some pink pills Brister claimed were valium.
Brister was transported to the Niles Law Enforcement Complex where he was booked and lodged.
