St. Joseph County YWCA holds golf tournament at Notre Dame

The YWCA of St. Joseph County's 20th annual "run, jane, run" Golf Tournament will be held on Wednesday at Juday Creek Golf Course in Granger, Ind. The tournament is chaired by Notre Dame women's basketball coach Muffet McGraw, WNDU's Tricia Sloma and Notre Dame athletics' Sally Derengoski.
The event will be a 4-woman Florida scramble format, with morning and aftenoon sessions for three flights each session. To register, please call Maggie Shoe at the YMCA at (574) 233-9491, or Sally Derengoski at Notre Dame at (574) 631-6690.
Registration deadline is Aug. 19. Every effort will be made to match singles teams needing an additional player.
The cost is $75, which includes a car, prize package, continental breakfast, plus lunch and awards in the morning and dinner and awards in the afternoon.
The morning flight is a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. for Champion, A and B flights. The afternoon flight is a shotgun start at 1:30 p.m. for C, D and E flights.
Beverages and snakcs will be provided on the course. Mulligans that iclude hidden prizes will be available for sale.
There will be a putting contest this year, and raffle tickets will be sold for golf gear and other items.
Major sponsors include Martin's Supermarkets, Meijer and Notre Dame Federal Credit Union. Sponsorship opportunities for the area's largest golf tournament are available by calling Nancy Sinnott at the YWCA at (574) 233-9491.
Funds raised by the golf tournament will benefit the YWCA, a non-profit organization serving women and their children in teh community. The YWCA provides the only accredited domestic violence services in St. Joseph County.
Its programs also include residential and non-residential substance abuse treatment that allows women to stay with their children at the YWCA. The YWCA is now in its 101st year of serving the community. It is a United Way agent.
