In one of only three dual meets this season, Buchanan lost to St. Joseph at Brookwood golf course Wednesday 179-191.
Nathan Layher again led the Bucks, shooting a 40, the lowest score of any player in the meet.
His Buchanan teammates could not keep up, though, as the Bucks' second lowest score was 50, shot by Matt Adams and Scott Lolmaugh.
St. Joseph's best finish was a 43, but its worst finish was a 49.
Before the match began, Bucks' coach Jim Brohman said playing at Brookwood, Buchanan's home course, would be an advantage. While he said it did help his team out Wednesday, the advantage was small.
Buchanan's next match is Tuesday against Eau Claire in the Bucks' second dual meet of the season. The match begins at 3:30 p.m. at Brookwood.
