I bet you have been wondering what has been going on at the Niles-Buchanan YMCA. In this week's article I will update the new comings and add a few interesting fitness ideas.
Sadly to say, summer is almost over. The kids are back to school in less than a month, and fall is almost here. I have recently been in stores and have seen aisle upon aisle of Christmas decorations! Has time slipped away from you, and you have not been exercising like you have wanted to? It is not too late! Let's look at what is going on at the YMCA.
Some of the fun classes that we have available for youth are: swimming, gymnastics and dance. These classes have limited enrollment space, so do not forget to sign up next week. In the fall, we have youth basketball leagues and clinics. Splash into the fall season with the Niles-Buchanan YMCA Gators swim team. Tryouts are just around the corner. We also have an excellent preschool getting ready to start up.
The preschoolers will work on small and large motor skills, colors, shapes, numbers, the alphabet and lots, lots, more. They will also have free time, swim time and gym time. So if you are wanting a place where your preschooler will have a great time learning the Learning Tree Preschool is the place to be.
Parents and kids need a night out? Saturday nights are for you. Super Saturdays are here. Bring your children from 5-9 p.m. to the YMCA, and you get four hours to do whatever you want. We will provide dinner and so much fun for the kids that they will be begging to come back.
We always have a variety of fitness classes including core fusion, power pump, power yoga, fit for life, toning, step aerobics and low impact aerobics, chair aerobics, water aerobics and arthritis class. In the fall we are having an adult softball, volleyball and racquetball league. Deadline for the softball league is Aug. 23rd. Do not forget about our popular personal training sessions.
If you have not had a session or are debating on signing-up to become a YMCA member, come in and have a free orientation. If you have not been coming in because you cannot find a babysitter, look no further - we have a fun babysitting room. This room is large and accommodating for the children and is equipped with air conditioning. For you parents or grandparents who cannot workout because you are too busy babysitting, we have your solution. Bring the children in and we will watch them while you workout.
I was trying to find a catchy saying that described what a workout really is. I found an article by George Allen, and it goes like this:
Thought of the Week: The first step with improving your life is walking through our doors.
