Former Edwardsburg and current Nebraska standout Becky Breisch is back home after competing in the Olympic Track &Field Trials in Sacramento, Calif.
Despite not making the team, Breisch is pleased with her accomplishments over the past three years at Nebraska and her performance at the Trials.
Breisch, who was fourth in the discus and 11th in the shot put, will finish up competing this summer and then have elbow surgery.
Her elbow did hamper her performance at the Trials.
Breisch said that she was thrilled to compete in the Olympic Trials and was impressed with the whole experience.
Breisch admitted that here plan didn't go exactly as planned, but she knows that this is just a first step.
She is unsure about whether or not she will be throwing for Nebraska this coming year.
She still has two years of school remaining, so she probably is going to take the next year off of collegiate competition and concentrate on form and strength, "rather than having to hit a certain distance at a meet," she said.
Her goals when she does compete for Nebraska will be to go over 200-feet in the discus and 60-feet in the shot put at the same meet.
Breisch is currently ranked No. 1 in the United States for the 23 and under division.
At the Trials, she noted that all of the women who finished ahead of her were in the late 20s and early 30s.
Breisch also was excited to have her mother Mary and sister Chrissy attend the meet.
Not only was there family there to cheer on Breisch, but so were several of her Nebraska teammates, who were competing at the Trials as well.
