The fifth annual Dowagiac Mini Grand Prix will have a new feature in 2004.
This year, the event, which will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, will feature a "press" heat.
Dowagiac's own Joe Jason, of WDOW, will take on WNDU Channel 16's Kari Howard and WSBT Channel 22's Keith Carter.
According to event organizer Kent Clark, "…Jason hopes to slip past the two TV personalities as they fight over who is the better morning news reporter."
Other sponsors include Franklin and Sons, R&S Repair, A-1 Expert Tree Service, Fitz for Prosecutor, Booth's Country Florists, Hale's Hardware, Creative Vinyl, Wolverine Mutual Insurance, Preferred Printing, Jim D. Body Shop, Beeson St. Bar and Grill, Hannapel Home Center, Securit Metals, Five-Mile Drive-In Theatre and Ricks Antenna Sales &Service.
Also sponsoring the event will be Guy Eby Insurance, Imperial Furniture, Wood Fire, Dowagiac Auto Body, Big Buoys Toys, Underwood for Sheriff and last year's champion Ivens Construction.
Anyone wishing to make a late entry may do so by calling Clark at 782-3284.
The Mini Grand Prix is one of the major fundraisers for Dowagiac's annual fireworks display.
The races will be held on Main Street.
