Cass Big Leaguers finish regular season

The Cassopolis Big Leaguers finished up the regular season with two games at Three Rivers on Tuesday and two games at home with Kalamazoo Westwood on Thursday, July 8.
Tuesday's contest with Three Rivers was a split decision. The first game had Three Rivers besting Cassopolis, 9-3, with Bobby Phillips taking the mound victory.
Phillips allowed Cass only two hits in the contest.
P.J. Smith took the loss for Cass. John Foster had a double.
The nightcap was special for Cassopolis as they beat Three Rivers 3-1.
Jason Rietveld took a no-hitter into the sixth inning for Cass, finishing the game allowing one hit, facing only 21 batters with 15 strikeouts for the mound victory.
Rietveld and Foster both doubled for Cass.
On Thursday Cassopolis again split a doubleheader with Kalamazoo Westwood, taking the opener in a thrilling 9-8 win.
Andre Broussard hit a walkoff two-run homer for Cass. Winning pitcher for Cass was Rietveld, who came in relief of Andre Broussard in the third. Losing pitcher for Kalamazoo was Brian Whitmore.
The nightcap saw Terry Olech of Kzoo throw a complete game victory to beat Cass 9-6.
Cassopolis finishes the summer season 4-7.
Rietveld will now represent Cassopolis when he joins the district 15 All-Stars, made up of District 15 area players, who travel to Tawas City for the Michigan State championship.
