NILES -- Michigan State Police, Niles Post, would like to remind those who are required to verify their address under the Sex Offender Registration Act to do so before the deadline on Thursday.
The Niles Post has adopted a zero tolerance policy for those who are in violation of the Act.
Failing to verify address is a misdemeanor punishable by 93 days in jail, $1,000 fine or both.
Failing to change address is a felony punishable by up to 4 years in prison, $2,000 fine or both. If located out of state, offenders may be extradited and local authorities will be notified.
