NILES -- Nancy Butler of Coldwell Banker Real Estate Specialists of Niles will chair the 2004 United Way of Greater Niles Fund Raising Campaign.
Butler, a long-time community volunteer and supporter of area projects, will tackle her third United Way campaign. She will become the first person to head the fund-raising campaign three times.
Butler previously served as campaign chair in 1991 and 1997.
Niles banker Sam Creden served in 1956 and also in 1970. Local attorney John Cary served as chairman two years back-to-back in 1995 and 1996.
United Way Niles Executive Director John Stauffer said "Niles is very fortunate to have Butler step forward and lead the 2004 fund raising effort. Nancy was excited when she read about the Plym and Hunter Foundation matching grants to stimulate new giving and she called to ask how she could help."
Both local foundations have pledged to match new donations of equal to or more than $1,000 from any individual or corporation and its employees.
The matching grants are capped at five $1,000 grants from each foundation for a total of $10,000.
This year the board of directors has set the financial goal at $280,000 -- the same as last year when $255,000 was raised.
