Norwood Blues win Niles Classic

The Blues captured the 2004 Niles Classic title with the victory over Bristol.
Ryan Anetsburger homered twice for Norwood while Kevin Zalmis and Todd Schultz each added a home run for the winners.

Mishawaka…………4
Kory Bridges struck out 13 batters and gave up just two hits in the victory for Niles.
Jeff Cooper hit a game-tying home run for Niles and Nick Saviano tripled to drive in the winning run.
Also helping the Niles All-Stars offensively, Kyle Kidwell hit three singles, Scott Mellen hit two singles, and Josh Atwood, Chris Singleton, Kyle Isabel, Ryne Dowling and Bridges each hit a single.
The victory gave the Niles Babe Ruth All-Stars a fifth-place finish in the 2004 Niles Classic.

Casey Hood led the Niles All-Stars with a double. Brooks Bonner, Josh Atwood and Scott Mellen each added a single.
James Payno hit a home run and a single to lead Benton Harbor.

Mike Sobel struck out 10 Niles batters and allowed just two hits in the victory for Post 50. Brooks Bonner took the loss for Niles.
Ryne Dowling and Zach Bennett led Niles at the plate with a signle each.
St. Joseph…………….14
Niles South County….0
Ben Knuth worked the mound for St. Joseph and tossed a no-hitter. Matt Richardson took the loss for South County while giving up 14 hits and striking out two batters.
Richie Burling helped St. Joseph with a double and a single while Matt Carlson added two singles.

Ryne Dowling took the loss for Niles as he gave up nine hits in four innings while striking out three batters.
Chris Carpenter led the Niles All-Stars at the plate with an RBI single while Kyle Kidwell, Casey Hood, Josh Atwood, Brooks Bonner and Kory Bridges each singled once.
