The 2004 Spring Fling 5K Run and Walk was held Saturday at Riverfront Park in Niles.
Joe Racht and Sherrie Wolf were the overall winners in the 5K run, but were not the only ones to receive prizes. Racht was the overall male winner with a time of 20:34 and Wolf beat out the rest of the women with her time of 25:39.
Sam King took second place among the men with a time of 20:50 and David Whitby finished third with a time of 21:17.
Nancy Majerek finished second among the women with a time of 26:35 and Maddy Whitby took third place with a time of 27:15.
King and Racht won the 15-18 and 19-25 age groups, respectively.
Mitt Drew was the top finisher in the 26-34 age group with a time of 22:10. Scott Johnson and Drew Johnson took second and third in that age group with times of 23:57 and 23:59, respectively.
In the 35-45 age group, David Whitby took first and Tom Majerek finished second with a time of 26:35.
In the 46-54 age division, Jim Geiger took first place with a time of 22:54. Mike DePaul finished second at 26:46 and Mike Stolz finished third at 29:55.
Mike Harrison won the 55-65 age group with a time of 29:55.
In the women's competition, Maddy Whitby won the 14 and under age group.
Melanie Norman won the 26-34 age division with a time of 35:48 and Susan Johnson took second with a time of 35:50.
Nancy Majerek won the 35-45 age group and Kim Fisher took second with a time of 57:42.
Wolf won the 46-54 age group and Barb Miller won the 55-65 age group with a time of 31:00.
