Despite falling short in the title game at Saturday's Division 2 District Tournament at Riverview Park in St. Joseph, the Niles varsity baseball team still managed to take home several All-District awards.
Niles coach Mike Vota was named, along with St. Joseph coach Ted Hendricks, the Co-Coaches of the Year. Individual Niles players taking home All-District honors were pitcher John Kessick, catcher Cory Coquillard and center fielder Josh Henry.
Henry, Coquillard, Aaron Ralston and Rob Schuelke also took home Academic All-District honors.
The Vikings, which won the Big 16 Conference West Division title, landed several players on the league's All-West Division lists, including Vota being named the Coach of the Year.
Kessick, Coquillard, Henry, third baseman Kyle Kidwell and right fielder Adrian Davis were named to the All-West Division First Team. Pitcher Matt Richardson received All-West Division Honorable Mention honors.
