Joseph Norton Sheteron golf scramble June 19

CASSOPOLIS -- The fifth annual Joseph Norton Sheteron Scholarship Golf Scramble will be held on June 19 at Diamond Lake Golf Course.
The four-person scramble will begin with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
Pre-registration will conclude on June 12.
Cost is $180 per team or $45 per person. It includes greens fees for 18 holes, longest drive contest on holes 2 and 11, and closest to the pin contest on holes 14 and 15.
The golf fee does not include a cart. To make arrangements for renting a cart, contact Diamond Lake Golf Course.
Hole-in-one prizes are a John Deere Gator, provided by Walker Farm and Garden, on No. 4, a set of golf clubs on No. 6 and a Caribbean cruise for two on No. 13.
There will also be a 100-percent payout for skins of $20 per team, which is to be paid a registration.
Proceeds provide a $4,000 scholarship to a deserving Cassopolis graduate.

CASSOPOLIS -- The World's Greatest Streetball Legends All-Stars kick off their 20-cities Streetball American Legendary Tour in Cassopolis playing the Southwestern Michigan All-Stars.
The Legendary Tour All-Stars bring their flying acrobatic, thunderous dunk, extremely accurate outside shooting, killer crosses to Southwest Michigan, on Thursday, June 10, at 7 p.m. at Cassopolis Ross Beatty Jr./Sr. High School.
The Legends feature Randy "White Chocolate" Gill, known on Magic Johnson's MTV "Who Got Game" show. He averages 37 points per game.
Other stars include Malloy "The Future" Nesmith who displays his mad handling ridiculous quickness, killer crosses, along with high-flying 45 inch vertical jump "Kiss the Rim" style dunking Jason "Birdman" Williams and others.
The Southwestern Michigan All-Stars will defend their home turf with 10-15 of the best players in lower Southwestern Michigan in the last five years.
From Cassopolis the team includes Rodney Lee, Joe Alford, Anthony Curry, Derek Outlaw, Andrew McKenna and Lamar Gillam. From Niles will be Keith Barr, Adam Shepherdson, Desmond Favors, and Corey Thacker.
From Dowagiac is Daniel Ward; from Buchanan, Justin Thompson, and from Marcellus, Dustin Perry.
Advance tickets are $10, or tickets are $15 at the door. The doors open at 6 p.m.

Edwardsburg soccer sign-ups
The Edwardsburg Youth Soccer Association is holding its registration for the fall 2004 season.
The league is open to both boys and girls, ages 4 through 14, as of Aug. 1.

Rangers hosting districts
The Cassopolis varsity baseball and softball teams will host the Division 4 district tournaments on Saturday.
The Rangers will host Centreville in the softball districts on Saturday at 10 a.m.
Centreville advanced to Saturday's district semifinals with a victory over Burr Oak on Tuesday (see scoreboard).
In the other half of the bracket, Colon will face White Pigeon, which defeated Howardsville Christian on Tuesday.
The championship game is scheduled for 2 p.m.
In baseball, White Pigeon and Colon will square off at 10 a.m. with the Rangers hosting Centreville at noon.

Eddies facing Schoolcraft
The Edwardsburg softball team will face Schoolcraft at noon on Saturday in Constantine in the Division 3 district tournament.
Constantine will host Marcellus in the first game beginning at 10 a.m.
