While the 2004 club volleyball season is over, the Krush Volleyball Club is still active.
Beginning this week, the club will hold open gym at the Niles-Buchanan YMCA every Tuesday night from 7-9 p.m. for players 12 and under, and every Thursday night from 7-9 p.m. for junior and senior high players. Open gyms will be held until the end of June.
Krush has also teamed up with the YMCA to host volleyball hitting classes for players in grades 4-12.
The classes will provide instruction on approach, footwork, arm swing, timing, accuracy and transition hitting.
Classes for players in grades 4-7 will be held Tuesdays from 6-7 p.m. for four weeks from June 1-22. Classes for players in grades 8-12 will be held Thursdays from 6-7 p.m. for four weeks from June 3-24.
The classes will be instructed by Carrie Cooper, former All-State player at Brandywine High School, current player at Cornerstone University, which is ranked No. 16 in NAIA, and junior varsity volleyball coach at Grand Rapids Baptist High School.
The cost of the classes is $30 for YMCA members and $40 for non-members. Sign up for classes at the YMCA.
Also, anyone interested in hitting classes on Wednesday nights should contact Dennis Cooper by phone at (269) 683-8157 or by email at dennis@transedge.com.
