Vikings win third game of week in crossover

The Niles baseball team won its third straight game of this week Thursday night and will attempt to make it five in a row tonight at Berrien Springs.
The Vikings beat Sturgis 3-0 Thursday in a Big 16 Conference crossover game and travels to Berrien Springs tonight for a non-conference doubleheader.
Jesse Sallak went the distance on the mound Thursday, striking out six batters and allowing just two hits.
Niles managed five hits, all singles, off Sturgis starter Sergio Cantu and reliever Dan Kyle.
Kyle Kidwell paced the Vikings with two singles while Josh Henry, John Kessick and Steve Clanton added one single apiece.
The Vikings, who are now 17-8 on the season, scored one run in the second inning and two in the sixth.
Following tonight's doubleheader, Niles will open play in the Penn (Ind.) Kingsmen Klassic Saturday night against Brandywine at 5:30 p.m.
