Three injured in two car crash on M-51 in Pokagon

A two vehicle personal injury accident at 2:30 p.m. Monday on M-51 near Crystal Springs in Pokagon Township resulted in injuries of three people.
The victims of the accident were identified as David Foster, 46, Cindy Foster, 35, of South Bend, Ind. and David Parm, 18, of Buchanan.
The Fosters were traveling south on M-51 when their vehicle was struck head on by Parm, who was traveling north.
According to the Cass County Sheriff's Department, the accident occurred when Parm's vehicle attempted to pass the vehicle in front of him. The initial investigation and witnesses believe Parm did not see the oncoming traffic while attempting to overtake the vehicle in front of him.
David Foster was air lifted to South Bend Hospital, where he was treated for his injuries. Cindy Foster was transported by ambulance to South Bend Hospital, where she was treated for her injuries. Parm was air lifted to Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo for his injuries.
Seatbelts were not worn by both David and Cindy Foster, both airbags were deployed at the time of the accident. Parm was wearing his seatbelt.
Pokagon Fire, Cassopolis Fire and Ambulance, Dowagiac Fire and Ambulance, Michigan State Police, Air Care and Samaritan Air assisted Cass County Deputies with the accident.
