A sixth straight conference championship was clinched Tuesday evening by the Brandywine varsity softball team.
The Bobcats swept a doubleheader at Coloma to assure themselves of at least a share of the Lakeland Conference title. Brandywine needs to win just one game in its doubleheader with Cassopolis next week to win the title outright.
Brandywine is ranked No. 3 in Division 3 and earned wins of 4-0 and 11-0 over Coloma, an honorable mention team in Division 2.
Nicki McGowen earned both pitching victories for the Bobcats, which are now 23-5 overall and 12-0 in league play. McGowen is now 23-5 on the year.
Kayla Asmus led Brandywine at the plate in the first game with a double and a single. Emily Christiansen added a double and two RBIs.
Michelle Shoemaker paced the hitting attack in the second game, which lasted just five innings, with a double and a pair of singles. Amber Valentine and Dee Echevarria each hit a double and a single. Echevarria drove in three runs.
