NILES -- In June 2003, the Brandywine community came together and authorized the investment of more than $14 million to upgrade their schools.
During the weeks and months since the passage of that bond issue, district staff have been working with architects and construction engineers to plan the remodeling and renewal of Brandywine's facilities.
Actual construction is now ready to begin.
The community is invited to a special Groundbreaking Ceremony beginning at 4 p.m. on Monday at the Brandywine High School grounds.
The event will begin at 4 p.m. with a reception, followed by a brief groundbreaking ceremony at 4:30.
Local civic and business leaders have been invited to attend and State Senator Ron Jelinek will give the keynote address.
During this event, the community will be able to view diagrams of each building's planned renovations.
The public's participation in this event will display community pride and commemorate the journey into Brandywine's bright future, Brandywine officials said.
