Bobcats take two from Marcellus

The Brandywine varsity baseball team moved within a game of evening its season record with a sweep of Marcellus Saturday.
The Bobcats earned wins of 13-1 and 11-2 to improve to 10-11 on the year. Brandywine travels to Three Rivers today for a non-conference contest.
Zach Bennett pitched all five innings of the first game to earn the victory. He gave up just four hits and the Brandywine defense did not commit any errors.
Billy Syrette hit a three-run homer and drove in a total of four runs to lead the Bobcats offensively. Aaron Holy added two hits and three RBIs.
Sophomore D.J. Elrod picked up his first varsity pitching victory in the second game as he tossed seven innings and gave up only three hits and one earned run with nine strikeouts.
Andy Low, Syrette and Casey Udell led Brandywine at the plate with three hits apiece. Udell tripled once and Syrette hit a double as each drove in three runs. Low added two RBIs and Matt Wieger also drove in two runs with two hits.
Valley sweeps Buchanan
The Buchanan varsity baseball team suffered a pair of setbacks Friday at home against River Valley in Lakeland Conference action.
The Mustangs peppered the Bucks with 25 hits in the two contests on their way to victories of 13-4 and 16-5.
Buchanan is now 6-13 overall and 2-7 in league play.
Jeremy Lucas suffered the pitching loss in the first game and Josh Wahlstrom took the loss in the second.
Wahlstrom led the Bucks at the plate in the second game with two hits including a double.
Buchanan travels to Berrien Springs Tuesday afternoon for another Lakeland doubleheader.
