DOWAGIAC -- Dowagiac Police Chief Tom Atkinson reports an attempted abduction on Thursday, May 6, at approximately 7:05 a.m.
According to Atkinson, a 15-year-old high school student noticed an older-model, full-size, dark red car, possibly with Indiana registration, circling the block as she was walking to school.
After several passes, the driver stopped the car, exited and told her to get in.
She continued walking and the driver then pulled into her path at a cross street.
The victim then ran around the car and fled to the high school.
The suspect vehicle was last seen heading southbound on N. Lowe St., in the City of Dowagiac.
The suspect is described as a black male, mid-20s, tall, with a medium build.
It was reported that he had a thin mustache and a "fade"-type haircut.
He was wearing a hooded, blue, pullover sweatshirt.
Anyone with any information regarding this incident or suspect is asked to call the Dowagiac Police Department at 269/782-9743 or Crime Stoppers.
