It was a good day for Brandywine baseball player Kory Bridges.
The junior pitcher lasted all seven innings in the Bobcats' 11-2 opening-game victory over Berrien Springs Tuesday afternoon and then picked up the save as Brandywine beat the Shamrocks 13-9 to complete the sweep.
That wasn't the end of Bridges' success, however. He also hit his first career home run in the second game and had two hits with two RBIs in the first game.
Brandywine jumped out to a 7-2 lead and held off the Shamrocks in the first game. The second game was much closer as Berrien Springs led until the bottom of the third inning when the Bobcats scored four runs and then pulled away.
Casey Udell and Josh Dickeson each had two hits in the first game with Udell driving in two runs. Andy Low also hit a double for the Bobcats.
Zach Bennett started on the mound in the second game and earned the win after working the first four innings. Bridges finished the game and did not give up any runs.
Low led the hitting attack in the second game with three hits. Billy Syrette and Matt Koller each added two hits.
Brandywine, which is now 8-11 overall and 6-4 in Lakeland Conference play, travels to Marcellus Saturday.
