Brandywine swept a Lakeland Conference baseball doubleheader from visiting Buchanan Tuesday afternoon, winning the first game 16-6 before holding off the Bucks for a 5-4 win in the second game.
Matt Koller had three hits to lead the Bobcats offensively in the opener, which lasted six innings. Andy Low, Aaron Holy, Billy Syrette, Casey Udell and Josh Atwood each had two hits. Low, Syrette, Udell, Josh Dickeson and Wieger collected two RBIs apiece.
Kory Bridges earned the victory as he struck out 12 batters and gave up just five hits.
Jeremy Lucas suffered the loss for Buchanan. Dustin Moore's double paced the Bucks at the plate.
Brandywine jumped out to a 5-1 lead after two innings of play in the second game only to have Buchanan mount a comeback in the fifth to close the gap to 5-4. The game, however, was cut short due to darkness and the Bobcats earned the victory.
Dickeson led Brandywine at the plate with two hits including a three-run homer in the first inning. Udell added two hits and Holy knocked in the other two runs with a sacrifice fly and a single.
Zach Bennett picked up his second win of the season on the mound for the Bobcats and Bridges retired the last batter to earn his second save of the year.
Kyle Tracey, who took the loss for Buchanan, and Josh Wahlstrom each doubled to lead the Bucks at the plate.
Brandywine hosts Lake Michigan Catholic today at 4 p.m. in non-conference action. Buchanan hosts Centreville Monday at 4 p.m. for a non-conference contest.
