Buchanan tennis steamrolls No. 6 Kalamazoo Hackett

The Buchanan tennis team upset one of the top teams in the state Monday afternon.
The Bucks, which are ranked No. 7 in Division 4, beat No. 6 Kalamazoo Hackett Catholic Central to remain unbeaten on the season.
Buchanan not only beat the Fighting Irish, but swept all four doubles matches and won three of four singles matches for a 7-1 decision.
At No. 1 singles, the Bucks' Jose Gonzalez beat Kyle Bedford 6-0, 6-1.
No. 2 singles was the only match won by Hackett. Buchanan's Jeff Eifler, however, did not got down without a fight. Luke Samra beat Eifler 1-6, 6-4, 6-2.
At No. 3 singles, Buchanan freshman True Sulier beat Hackett junior Richard Clark 6-4, 6-3.
Finally, Buchanan's Ryan Skene beat Andre Dinitz 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (5) at No. 4 singles.
The Buchanan No. 1 doubles team of Chad Van Lue and Doug Summers beat Scott Swartzkie and Ben Weishaar 6-0, 6-1.
At No. 2 doubles, the Buchanan team of Alex Flood and Alex Gordon beat Alex Weishaar and Mike Cinabro 6-0, 6-0.
The No. 3 doubles team of Mike Otwell and Korey Camp beat Hackett's Robbie Johnson and Aaron Lewandowski 6-1, 6-2.
At No. 4 doubles, the Buchanan team of Dustin Sieff and Brandon Smeltzer beat Jeff Schwelker and Matt Kosko 6-1, 6-2.
Buchanan returns to action Wednesday afternoon with a Lakeland Conference match at home against Cassopolis.
