The best running back in Niles football history has finally made a decision on where he will continue his athletic and academic career.
Jones, who led the Vikings to their first ever playoff victory this past season, announced on Friday that he would join teammates Marcus Lawshea, Ivery Cross and Stacy Caskey at Si Tanka University in Huron, N.D.
Jones, the Association Press' Class B Player of the Year, rushed for 2,584 yards on 295 carries and 29 touchdowns, ends months of speculation about where he will apply his football skills next season.
Jones averaged 234.9 yards rushing per game and 8.8 yards per carry.
His numbers landed him on the Michigan High School Athletic Association's all-time rushing list.
Jones received plenty of offers and took his time deciding where he would go to school.
According to coach Dave Janicki the decision came down to what was best for Jones and to make sure he would walk away with a college degree.
Janicki was asked if Jones was the best running back ever to come out of Niles and how he would replace him.
Jones said that he liked what he saw in South Dakota and he felt comfortable with his decision and the fact that he will have teammates around him.
Jones also knows that he has his work cut out for him when he gets to Huron.
