DOWAGIAC -- The first time Dowagiac and Buchanan met this season the Chieftains owned the field, winning 5-0 in the season opener for both schools.
Friday afternoon the Lady Bucks showed how much they improved as Dowagiac had to settle for a 1-1 non-conference tie.
Neither team could dent the scoreboard in the first half, however, once the Chieftains scored with 39:03 remaining in the match, the Lady Bucks quickly responded.
Dowagiac's Ashley Caldwell broke the scoreless deadlock, however, Buchanan's Natalle Barclay scored less than three minutes later to knot the match.
Dowagiac dominated the play for the most part, but could not finish on its chances according to coach Mike Williams.
The Chieftains outshot the Lady Bucks, 21-5.
