Brandywine sweeps Edwardsburg

The Brandywine varsity softball team swept a Lakeland Conference doubleheader from host Edwardsburg on Monday.
The Lady Bobcats (10-2, 4-0) won the opening game, 14-4, in five innings and the nightcap, 11-1, also in five innings.
Nicki McGowen won both games to improve to 10-2 on the season.
McGowen struck out 11 in the first game and 10 in the second game.
Michelle Shoemaker and Amanda Grice both hit home runs in the opening game to go along with two hits. Shoemaker also drove in four runs, while Grice drove in two runs.
Amber Valentine added two singles, a double and three RBIs to the Brandywine attack. Emily Christianson also singled twice and doubled.
In the second game McGowen doubled, while Christianson had three hits and two RBIs.
Shana Stoops doubled and drove in a run for the Eddies.
