As some of you may or may not have noticed beginning last fall we have tried to run the pictures of our local youth sports teams.
We were successful in obtaining the Dowagiac Rocket Football League pictures, but not youth soccer.
This past month or so we have run the pictures from the Dowagiac Youth Basketball Association.
Soccer is currently under way and Little League Baseball and Softball are not far behind.
We want to run each and every team picture this year of soccer, baseball, football and basketball.
Having been unsuccessful last year in obtaining both soccer and baseball photos from the respective leagues, I am asking publicly for those sports pictures this year.
If I cannot get the pictures from the individual leagues, I ask you as parents to get together and have one team member supply the Daily News with a team photo, along with identification of each player and coach.
If we end up with more than one picture of each team, that's fine. But we really only need one.
I know that team pictures are probably not available yet for soccer and I know they are not for baseball.
But as soon as they become available, please, parents, bring one into the Daily News for publication.
As soon as the picture runs they can be picked up. We do not want to keep your photographs, only run them.
We believe it is important to get local names and faces in our newspaper and acknowledge just how hard these young people compete week in and week out.
I appreciate your help with my quest to complete this request.
