Bobcats open with 7-1 win over Eau Claire

The Brandywine varsity tennis team opened its season Tuesday afternoon with a 7-1 victory over non-conference foe Eau Claire at Plym Park.
The Bobcats lost only one singles match.
At No. 1 singles, Brandywine's Mike Beauchamp beat Phil Patterson 6-0, 6-0.
Mike Nagy beat Eau Claire's Jordan Harris 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 singles.
Joe Spavey of Eau Claire beat Cory Barber at No. 3 singles, but not without a fight. Spavey earned decisions of 7-6 (7-5) and 6-4.
Jeremy Hechtl collected a forfeit victory for Brandywine at No. 4 singles.
The Brandywine No. 1 doubles team of Nick Shelton and Blayne Brady beat Jim Lucas and Brett Francis 6-1, 7-5.
At No. 2 doubles, Brandywine's Brian Echevarria and Pat Van Laere beat Nick Schlipp and Wayne Davis 6-4, 4-6, 6-3.
The No. 3 doubles team of Andy Daus and Corbett Gilley beat Eau Claire's David Gould and Cory Disterheft 6-4, 6-2.
Finally, the Brandywine No. 4 doubles team of Mike Morrison and Adam Simons beat Michael Ealey and Jon Hopkins 6-1, 6-4.
Brandywine opens play in the Lakeland Conference with a match at Cassopolis today at 4 p.m.
TheBobcats then travel to Edwardsburg on Monday.
