Edwardsburg attorney Bill LaBre, chairman of the Cass County Republican Party, was awarded the "Diamond" lifetime achievement award Saturday evening by previous recipients Carl and Ardith Higley, Louise Cox, Margaret Stanley, Ann Simmons and Dale Blunier. LaBre started the Lincoln Day dinner at the Edwardsburg American Legion with the singing of "Happy Birthday" to his daughter, Jennifer, 28. "For the first time in 30 years, I'm speechless," LaBre said upon receiving his award. "I'm honored, surprised and delighted."
