The Niles High School varsity tennis team opened its season Tuesday night at Sturgis, which handed the Vikings an 8-0 loss.
In all but one match, the Vikings were either shut out or held to two or fewer game wins. The lone exception was a No. 2 doubles where Niles' Luis Ceballos and Paul Wreggelsworth rebounded from a 6-1 loss in the opening set to win four games in the second.
Niles, 0-1, returns to action Tuesday, April 13, at home against Buchanan.
