The third annual Optimist Tri-Star Basketball skills contest attracted more than 50 area youth recently to the Niles-Buchanan YMCA.
Contestants were judged and scored on their dribbling, passing and shooting skills.
The top three girls and boys in each age division received medals, and are eligible to participate in the Michigan District Optimist Tri-Star Basketball Skills Competition in Southfield on May 1.
Here is the list of top finishers in each age division. Girls 8-9: 1. Samantha Holmes; Boys 8-9: 1. Isaiah Jeffries, 2. Josh Whitfield, 3. Doug Freeman; Girls 10-11: 1. Ramone Brown, 2. Alex Lewellen, 3. Chris Lewellen.
