CHICAGO -- All six Amtrak trains in the Detroit/Pontiac-Chicago corridor will carry the same Wolverine Service name and two of the Wolverines will have earlier departures in the new Amtrak timetable, effective April 26.
Currently, the first eastbound Wolverine on the Chicago-Detroit/Pontiac corridor (train 350) leaves Chicago at 8:40 a.m. Central Time (CT), arrives in Detroit at 3:12 p.m. Eastern Time (ET) and terminates in Pontiac at 4:10 p.m. ET. Effective April 26, train 350 leaves Chicago at 7:50 a.m. CT, arrives in Detroit at 2:33 p.m. ET and terminates in Pontiac at 3:20 p.m.
Currently, the first westbound Wolverine on the Pontiac/Detroit-Chicago corridor (train 351) leaves Pontiac at 7:00 a.m. ET, departs Detroit at 7:42 a.m. ET and terminates in Chicago at 12:26 p.m. CT. Effective April 26, train 351 leaves Pontiac at 6:40 a.m. ET, departs Detroit at 7:22 a.m. ET and terminates in Chicago at 12:06 p.m. CT.
Also, the new Blue Water trains originating from Port Huron, Mich., and serving East Lansing, Mich., will provide Michigan residents with an earlier arrival in Chicago, effective April 25. The Wolverine Service trains and the Blue Water share the same route in Michigan at Battle Creek, Kalamazoo, Dowagiac and Niles.
Even with the first westbound Wolverine (train 351) operating on a 20-minute earlier schedule from Pontiac and Detroit, the westbound Blue Water (train 365), will depart Battle Creek, Kalamazoo, Dowagiac and Niles and arrive in Chicago nearly an hour earlier than train 351.
Specifically, train 365 will depart Battle Creek at 9:12 a.m. ET. Kalamazoo at 9:41 a.m. ET, Dowagiac at 10:10 a.m. ET, Niles at 10:25 a.m. ET and arrive in Chicago at 11:10 a.m. CT. The new Blue Water schedule enables passengers to arrive in Chicago before lunch and return the same day on four trains to western Michigan, one to East Lansing/Port Huron and three to Detroit/Pontiac.
