EDWARDSBURG -- Ontwa Township-Edwardsburg Police Chief Kenneth Wray reports his department is investigating a hit-and-run accident that occurred at or about 6:45 p.m. Sunday.
Officer Brian Robinson was sent to Oak Street, just off Redfield Road, where Edward L. Williamson, 59, was found injured.
He had been taken to his residence by a neighbor who found him beside Redfield Road, near the intersection with M-62.
Upon investigation, Officer Robinson found that Williamson had been struck by a car while riding his bike to the store.
Officers went to the scene of the accident and found evidence of vehicle parts on the ground near the location of where the bike was located.
The vehicle appeared to be purple in color from evidence at the scene.
Officers for the Cass County Sheriff's Office received a call from a person reporting a car-deer accident at a gas station in Howard Township.
Upon arrival it was found that the vehicle had not hit a deer, but had, in fact, struck something on the passenger's side of the vehicle, and some of the parts of the vehicle were missing.
With the coordinated efforts of the Cass County Sheriff's Office and deputies at the scene of the accident, the Ontwa Township-Edwardsburg Police Department was contacted.
The missing parts and the found parts matched.
Ann L. Raab, 35, of Washington Street, Constantine, was identified as the driver of the vehicle. Raab was arrested by the Sheriff's Office on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
Charges have been filed with the Cass County Prosecutor's Office for leaving the scene of a personal injury accident and were pending authorization Monday.
