Thomas fires in 39 points to lead Irish

Chris Thomas scored a career-high 39 points as the Notre Dame men's basketball team earned a 77-66 victory over Saint Louis in the National Invitation Tournament Monday night at Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, Ind.
Thomas, a junior point guard, scored 27 of his points in the second half after the Irish (19-12) trailed by a point at halftime. He made 12-of-20 shots from the field including 6-of-11 from beyond the 3-point line. He also pulled down five rebounds.
Notre Dame advances to play the winner of tonight's game between Oregon (16-12) and George Mason (23-9).
The Irish will host the quarterfinal game Thursday night at 7 p.m.
Josh Fisher led Saint Louis (19-13) with 21 points.
Fisher and Thomas were the only players in the game to reach double figures in scoring.
