Ferris State earns NCAA tourney bid

The Ferris State University women's basketball team received its second-ever NCAA Division II Great Lakes Regional Tournament bid Sunday in an announcement made on College Sports Television.
FSU, which is presently 21-9 overall, is the region's third seed and will face sixth-seeded Ashland this Friday in Quincy, Ill. Qunicy University earned the top seed and will serve as the tournament host. Ferris will face Ashland at noon.
In addition to the Bulldogs and Ashland, Lake Superior State of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) also received a tourney berth. The Lakers are seeded second in the eight-team field.
The winners of Friday's four quarterfinal round games will advance to Saturday's semifinals with the championship game set for Monday at 7 p.m.
The Great Lakes Regional champion will then advance to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight set for March 24-27 in St. Joseph, Mo.
The Bulldogs made their first NCAA-II appearance during the 1999-00 campaign.
Fisk, Miller, DeMartin honored by league
Ferris State head coach Tracy Fisk was named the GLIAC Coach of the Year and a pair of Bulldog players made the North Division All-GLIAC First Team.
Senior guard Lucy DeMartin, of Mason, and sophomore guard Erin Miller, of Niles, made the North Division First Team.
DeMartin and Miller also made the GLIAC All-Tournament Team.
Ferris State junior forward Sarah Duesing, of Sault Ste. Marie, made the North Division All-Defensive Team.
