Goodwill closing Niles store

By Staff
SOUTH BEND -- Goodwill Industries of Michiana Inc. has announced the Niles retail store will be closing at the end of February.
All employees at the Niles location are being offered jobs at other existing Goodwill stores.
J. Larry Neff, president and CEO of Goodwill, said, "We are looking for another retail site in Niles to open a larger store. The downtown location is too small to operate efficiently and profitably with only 3,800 square feet of retail space. We would like to find a site that would accommodate at least 8,000 square feet of retail and provide ample parking and good loading dock facilities.
Lisa Croteau, in charge of marketing for the Niles Downtown Development Authority said she's sad to see Goodwill leave downtown, but finds the prospects it creates exciting.
