The Dowagiac freshman basketball team suffered another heart-breaking loss Tuesday night.
The Chieftains fell to visiting Portage Northern 42-41.
Dowagiac trailed 30-24 heading into the fourth quarter, but outscored the Huskies 17-12 in the final eight minutes.
Andrew Cuthbert led Dowagiac with 24 points. Nick File added nine points and Ton Black four.
The junior varsity basketball team was also defeated by Portage Northern on Tuesday night.
Dowagiac fell behind 16-4 in the first quarter and were never able to catch up in a 56-41 loss.
Jason Manley led the Chieftains with 22 points. David Stuppy added 11 points.
Dowagiac will take all three basketball teams to Battle Creek on Friday to take on Central beginning with the freshman game at 4:15 p.m.
