Brigitha named MAC West Player of the Week

Central Michigan University men's basketball player Gerrit Brigitha, a Niles High School graduate, has been named the Mid-American Conference West Division "Player of the Week."
Brigitha averaged 26.5 points and 8.5 rebounds in two games while shooting 69 percent from the floor. He tied a career high with 29 points at Toledo on 10-for-14 shooting and then posted 24 points against Eastern Michigan while hitting 10-of-15 shots. He added 11 boards against the Eagles for his second career double-double. Brigitha played 75 of a possible 80 minutes in the two games.
The senior leads the MAC in field goal percentage (.588) and has made 41 of his last 52 attempts over the last four games. In MAC games only, he is averaging a league-best 26.3 points per game.
The 6-8 center has scored 29, 26, 29 and 24 points in the last four contests. He was named MAC "Scholar-Athlete of the Week" last week.
