Governor signs Nitz bill aiding tool and die

LANSING -- Michigan's ailing tool-and-die industry will get much-needed assistance now that a bill sponsored by Rep. Neal Nitz has been signed into law by Gov. Jennifer Granholm.
The governor Monday signed three Republican jobs bills, including Nitz's House Bill 5254, which establishes low-interest loans from the Michigan Broadband Development Authority to be used by tool and die shops for broadband infrastructure upgrades.
"This is great news for the tool-and-die industry, as well as
the families and communities that depend on this industry for jobs," said Nitz, R-Baroda. "High-speed Internet access is essential for
these companies to remain competitive in the 21st century. Low-interest loans from the Broadband Development Authority will help shops to upgrade and meet the competition head-on."
