Workshop in Niles to help future college students

BENTON TOWNSHIP -- Lake Michigan College will host a financial aid workshop for current and prospective college students and their families at its Bertrand Crossing Campus in Niles on Wednesday, Jan. 7, from 7 – 9 p.m. High school students, their parents, and adults looking to go back to school are encouraged to attend this free event.
Anne Tews, director of Financial Aid at LMC, will conduct the workshop and cover topics including scholarships, state and federal grants, the Michigan Merit Award, loans, work study opportunities, resources for adult students, and the HOPE Tax Credit.
Information will also be available on completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and making financial aid paperwork simple.
Those who wish to complete their FAFSA that evening are encouraged to bring their driver's license, social security number, completed or estimated 2003 tax returns for themselves or their family, and other supporting documents relative to their family's finances.
The same session will be held again on Wednesday, Jan. 14, in the Mendel Center's Grand Upton Hall on the College's Napier Avenue Campus.
