CASSOPOLIS -- Cass County's Law and Courts Building reopened for business this morning after being closed two days by flooding from the failure of the fire suppression system.
County Administrator Terry Proctor said Wednesday that the clean-up was progressing "and so is the drying out of the building."
A rig on a semi truck heated up the interior to 115 degrees to thoroughly dry out the interior, preventing future mold and mildew.
Once the fire suppression system was repaired, "We have to test it under pressure for 24 hours before we can reoccupy," he said. "So far, it worked all night long."
There are any number of possibilities why it failed, Proctor said, adding that the fitting which broke was in the hands of the insurance adjuster to examine the evidence and to make a determination.
