Two arrests made in dismantling Calvin meth lab

CASSOPOLIS -- Cass County Sheriff Joseph Underwood Jr. Monday reported the discovery and dismantling of a methamphetamine production lab in Calvin Township and two arrests.
On Sunday, Dec. 14, at approximately 11 p.m., deputies were sent to investigate a domestic dispute occurring at a residence in the 21000 block of Mt. Zion Street in Calvin Township.
Upon arriving at the residence, deputies observed several items indicating the production of methamphetamine was occurring in the home.
Cass County Drug Enforcement Team (CCDET) investigators were called to the scene and determined the existence of a large meth lab on the property, as well as a small quantity of methamphetamine in the residence.

CCDET clan lab technicians, along with a member of the Michigan State Police meth team, then dismantled the lab.
Hazardous material personnel from Michigan responded to the scene to remove the waste and volatile components of the lab.
Two persons were arrested at the residence and lodged at the Cass County Jail.
Charges upon which the subjects were to be arraigned Monday include manufacture of methamphetamine, marijuana possession and domestic assault.
Edwardsburg fire and ambulance assisted at the scene.
