NILES -- The seven-time defending Class B District champion Niles Vikings lead this year's edition of the Leader Publications Basketball All-Stars.
The Lady Vikings finished the season with a record of 21-4 and reached the Regional championship game.
The All-Stars, voted on by the sports staffs of the Niles Daily Star and Dowagiac Daily News, can be found on Page 5 of today's paper.
Niles sophomore Brandie Radde was named the 2003 Player of the Year by Leader Publications and Niles coach Jim Arnold earned Coach of the Year recognition. Junior guard Amber Peters, junior center Melissa Olsen and sophomore forward Sarah Dreher also represented Niles on the All-Star squad.
A pair of seniors from Buchanan also made the All-Star squad. Point guard Ali Bender and forward Ashlee Layher each made the team.
Brandywine junior forward Emily Whitney and sophomore guard Kalie Newman received All-Star status.
Cassopolis junior guard Jealyn Foston also made the All-Star list.
From Dowagiac, a pair of post players made the Leader Publications All-Star list. Senior forward Brianne Reist and senior center Jenny Pilot were honored.
