NILES -- One night after barely being able to find the basket in a season-opening loss at Decatur, the Brandywine varsity basketball team shot a sizzling 56 percent from the floor to run away with a 73-60 win over Marcellus Tuesday night.
The Bobcats, now 1-1, made 31-of-55 shots from the floor, including five 3-pointers, and 6-of-10 from the free throw line.
Andy Low led all scorers with 23 points for Brandywine while Justin Sobecki scored 16, Casey Udell scored 14 to match his output against Decatur and Chris Carpenter added 11.
The Wildcats also had four double-figure scorers, led by Dustin Perry's 16 points. Dustin Stevens added 13 while Billy Osborn and Ricky Plotts each scored 12.
After taking a solid 18-10 lead at the end of the first quarter, Brandywine exploded for 23 points in the second quarter and led 41-27 at halftime.
Marcellus chipped away at the lead in the third quarter and trailed 55-46 heading into the fourth when Brandywine outscored the Wildcats 18-14.
Low, who fouled out and was on the bench most of the game with foul trouble against Decatur, managed just five points Monday night.
The Bobcats travel to Covert Friday night for their third game of the week.
The Marcellus junior varsity beat Brandywine 74-41. Justin Ely and Blayne Brady each scored seven for the Bobcats.
