Relay for Life is moving to a new, centrally-located home at the Cass County Fairgrounds in Cassopolis, for the May 22-23, 2004, event, Chair Darlene Powell said.
Her committee has also chosen the weekend prior to Memorial Day to have the fast-growing event annually "so there's continuity and people can put 'Relay weekend' on their calendar," Powell said.
The first Relay took place in August before it found a home in May after the Dogwood Fine Arts Festival.
But "we're not using the dirt track" at the fairgrounds, she added.
Powell said 43 teams grossed $107,000 at SMC in 2003.
As a centrally-located event, the Relay they hope will also be better able to bring in communities to the east, such as Three Rivers and Jones, and "the outlying areas of Cass County.
Marcellus brought in $13,000 with its mini-Relay.
An Edwardsburg mini-relay is in the discussion stage. Dowagiac is also expected to continue with its mini-Relay for a second year.
