Seventh grade opens season with split

The Central Middle School seventh grade boys' basketball team split a pair of games with Niles Ring Lardner Thursday afternoon.
The Orange team defeated Niles 22-19, while the Black squad lost to the Niles, 50-35.
The eight grade "A" team was defeated by Ring Lardner, 53-13.
Zach Russom led the seventh grade Orange team with 12 points. Jason Bailey finished with four points.
Also scoring were Tanner Melvin, Joe Miller and Jon West.
Patrick Haggin paced the Black team with 15 points, while Dre Kiser scored nine points and Tim DeRyder scored four points.
Also scoring were Jaren Wade, Shaun Bruen, Ryan Nichols and Romero Reed.
Dowagiac will host Benton Harbor Fairplain on Monday. The first game is set to begin at 4 p.m.
Glen Haggin grabbed four rebounds and had two points for the eighth grade "A" team.
Glenn Hammond had seven points and a rebound, while Matt Klees grabbed three rebounds.
Dowagiac will face Benton Harbor Fairplain on Monday in its next contest.
