NILES -- Jim Arnold has always said he would rather play a game in the first round of the district tournament than receive a bye.
The Niles coach got his wish this year as the Vikings (15-3) will take on Coloma (5-13) in the first game of the Class B District Tournament at Niles High School on Monday, Nov. 17, at 6 p.m.
The second game of Monday night will feature Dowagiac (4-14) against Berrien Springs (7-11) 20 minutes after the conclusion of the Niles-Coloma contest.
The tournament will resume Wednesday, Nov. 19, with two semifinal contests. St. Joseph (12-6) awaits the Niles-Coloma winner for the Wednesday's first game at 6 p.m. Lakeshore (8-10) will take on the Dowagiac-Berrien Springs winner in the second game of the night.
The championship game at Niles is set for Friday, Nov. 21, at 7 p.m.
Niles has won six straight district titles.
Class C at Buchanan
The Class C District Tournament at Buchanan should be exciting from start to finish as the Bucks (12-7) takes on River Valley (14-4) in the first game on Monday at 7 p.m.
On Tuesday, Bridgman (16-2) takes on Eau Claire (12-8) in the other semifinal at 7 p.m.
Brandywine (9-9) will take on the Buchanan-River Valley winner on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
The championship game is scheduled for Friday at 7 p.m.
River Valley, Bridgman and Buchanan are the top three teams in the Lakeland Conference.
Buchanan and River Valley split their two regular-season matchups while Bridgman swept Buchanan in their two meetings.
