MIDLAND, MI - The Northwood men's basketball program is proud to announce the addition of four student-athletes for the 2003-04 basketball season. The Timberwolves will be bringing in one high school freshman and three transfer students to a team that returns five starters.
Eric Giesow, a 6-5 freshman from Brighton High School, is the lone freshman from this year's class. Giesow was an All-State performer in Class A as a senior and played in the BCAM All-Star Game. Giesow is a talented shooter who will play either small forward or shooting guard.
Jeremy Rau, a 6-9 transfer from Kirtland Community College, will add needed bulk in the frontcourt. Rau is a Saginaw Swan Valley High School graduate who brings athleticism in the paint.
Keith Barr, a 6-3 sophomore from Grand Valley State University, played one year for the Lakers in 2001-02. Barr, a Niles High School graduate, averaged 4.3 points and 2.2 rebounds per game in his one year in Allendale. Barr will likely play point guard and will contribute right away.
Ryan Broker, a 6-10 transfer from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks, will also solidify depth in the frontcourt for the Timberwolves. Broker played during the 2000-01 season and averaged 8.1 points and 4.1 rebounds per game.
Northwood will play an exhibition game Sunday at Central Michigan University.
