Eddies eliminated by South Haven

The Edwardsburg varsity soccer team played well, but fell to Division 3 state runner-up South Haven in the opening round of the District Tournament Monday afternoon.
The host Eddies dropped a 3-2 decision to the visiting Rams.
South Haven jumped out to a 2-0 lead as David Barden and Caleb Meyer scored goals in the sixth and 31st minutes.
Edwardsburg cut the lead to 2-1 early in the second half on a goal by Tony Schmitt.
South Haven extended its advantage to 3-1 on a goal by Sergio Calderon.
Dustin Walter cut the Rams' advantage to 3-2 with a goal in the 77th minute.
Edwardsburg could get no closer, however.
The Dowagiac varsity soccer team had little trouble with host River Valley in the first round of the Division 3 District Soccer Tournament on Monday.
The Chieftains led 2-0 at halftime on their way to a 7-0 victory.
Dowagiac will take on Berrien Springs in the semifinals on Wednesday.
The Shamrocks upset Buchanan 4-2 on Monday.
It will be the first time in 11 years Buchanan will not play in the district finals.
Tony Black scored the game-winner in the fourth minute with an assist from Ryan Edgerly.
Brandon Zachary scored the first of his three goals in the eighth minute to give Dowagiac the 2-0 halftime lead.
In the final 40 minutes, Black scored in the 56th minute with an assist from Zachary. Zachary then scored goals in the 63rd and 69th minutes.
Freddie Soto scored in the 74th minute with an assist from Black.
Rafael Quintero scored in the 77th minute to give Dowagiac its final goal.
Dowagiac outshot River Valley 44-3.
Davey Moran picked up the shutout in goal for the Chieftains.
Dowagiac will host Berrien Springs on Wednesday beginning at 4:30 p.m.
The Brandywine and Buchanan soccer teams took an early exit from the Division 4 District Tournament Monday night, suffering losses to teams they had beaten in the regular season.
Brandywine, which finished the season at 6-8-2, was beaten 3-2 by Coloma. Buchanan, which ended with a record of 13-6-3, took a 4-2 loss at Berrien Springs.
Senior Andy Low scored both goals for the Bobcats. Brandywine goalkeeper Garrett Semrinec had four saves as the Bobcats outshot Coloma 14-8.
Cody Krieger, David Saleeby and Anthony Musgrove scored goals for the Comets.
For the first time in 11 years, Buchanan won't be taking part in the District title game. Berrien Springs scored all four of its goals in the first half.
Robbie Schadt scored twice for the Shamrocks while Muny Musvosi and Akwasi Antivi each added one goal.
Chris Cecco scored twice in the second half for Buchanan.
Both teams managed four shots on goal and Josh Wahlstrom had 10 saves in goal for the Bucks.
Berrien Springs and Dowagiac will played at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while South Haven played Coloma at 6 p.m. The championship match is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Saturday at Dowagiac Union High School.
