Coleman, Coloma too much for ‘Cats

Coloma scored 21 points in the first quarter on its way to beating Brandywine 49-21 Friday night in Lakeland Conference football.
The win lifted the Comets, which are ranked No. 10 in Division 4, to 8-0 overall and 6-0 in the league while Brandywine fell to 4-4 and 4-2.
Farrid Coleman scored on a 50-yard run, Jermayne Franklin scored from one yard out and Erich Biggart scored on a 19-yard run for the Comets in the first quarter. Mike McCoy kicked three extra points as well.
Evan Smith scored on a one-yard run for the Bobcats and the two-point conversion failed.
Coleman scored on a 20-yard run and McCoy's kick gave the Comets a 28-6 lead.
Smith then threw a 39-yard touchdown pass to Rob Deverna and completed another pass to Deverna for a two-point conversion to chop the lead to 28-14.
Coloma then scored back-to-back touchdowns on a 15-yard fumble return by Coleman and a two-yard run by Franklin. McCoy kicked both extra points to stretch the lead to 42-14.
Smith scored on a one-yard run and Garrett Semrinec kicked the extra point to finish the Bobcats' scoring.
Coleman added a 28-yard touchdown run and McCoy made good on his seventh extra point of the night.
Brandywine hosts Edwardsburg next Friday night.
